Dong Bei's Kutchay Dumplings (100php for 14 pieces) |
Our usual plate of Kutchay Dumplings. Never leave Binondo without having one. Most of our catch up chika (thanks to Kea for my new word) is done over a plate of these yummy little heaven. MJ and I can finish one plate each! We just chose to share a plate because we need some space for other Binondo goodies. What can we say, our kind of dumplings.J
We decided to skip our comfort noodles in Wai Ying and tried something new with Tasty Dumplings Porkchop noodles.
Tasty Dumpling Porkchop Noodles (115php) and Wintermelon Juice (60php) |
I decided that we share one order. Good thing we did. The Porkchop’s
very tasty indeed but MJ and I were not satisfied with the noodles. Maybe we’re
just used to Wai Ying’s noodles. It made me think, the porkchop and a cup of
rice would make a nice combo. Will order porkchop rice next time. But now, our thoughts on this noodles? Will not get this next time. As for the Wintermelon juice, we liked it. Just the right sweetness.
MJ and I wanted some nai cha but we're full as in FULL! Thanks to that noodles. We walked and bought some Shanghai Fried Siopao, some hopia in Po Chua Tin Bakery and Fresh Lumpia from New Po-Heng Lumpia House to take home but I did not get the chance to taste it because my kapatid had it all for himself. All I can remember was the Shanghai Fried Siopao wasn't the one I was expecting. I thought it was kinda like Dane's Toasted Siopao I always had back in college. Oh no. Now I am missing Baguio again.
We thought all that walking would somehow do us good so we can go back to Wai Ying for some Nai Cha but nope it did not help. I asked MJ that we just had coffee at Sa Lido.
Sa Lido Restaurant brewed coffee (65php)and Adobo Pan de Sal (75php) |
This is our kind of coffee. Just plain brewed. No complications. Perfect for any time of the day. We continued our catch up chika here along with a lot of Chinese old me drinking and eating the same thing we had. Haha.
Now I have come to a conclusion. MJ and I now have our Binondo "staples": Dong Bei Kutchay Dumplings, Noodles and Siopao at Wai Ying and after coffee talks at Sa Lido. We'll take photos of it next time we're there. I'm sorry Tasty Dumplings you did not make it to my list but I know you made it in someone else's.
merci merci
*Ma'am Jenny - I think I should drop "Ma'am" since she's no longer my boss and officemate. Thinking of calling her MJ instead J
